I Sing the Mighty Power of God

I love when old Hymns are “upgraded” to modern rock songs.

Here’s such an example. It’s from the band, Team Strike Force, who play at Mars Hill Church in Seattle (I’ve become a big fan of this Church recently, if you can’t tell already).

Here are the lyrics:

I sing the mighty pow’r of God, that made the mountains rise,
That spread the flowing seas abroad, and built the lofty skies.
I sing the wisdom that ordained the sun to rule the day;
The moon shines full at God’s command, and all the stars obey.

I sing the goodness of the Lord, who filled the earth with food,
Who formed the creatures through the Word, and then pronounced them good.
Lord, how Thy wonders are displayed, where’er I turn my eye,
If I survey the ground I tread, or gaze upon the sky.

Oh Kings of earth and everything
Lift now with us sing
Lord let your glory reign
Over every mountain Crest
Creation has confessed
You have given breath
From heaven to the depths

There’s not a plant or flow’r below, but makes Thy glories known,
And clouds arise, and tempests blow, by order from Thy throne;
While all that borrows life from Thee is ever in Thy care;
And everywhere that we can be, Thou, God, art present there.

Oh Kings of earth and everything
Lift now with us sing
Lord let your glory reign
Over every mountain Crest
Creation has confessed
You have given breath
From heaven to the depths
(repeat)

Masculinity

Mars Hill church in Seattle is doing some awesome things in their ministry. Their senior pastor, Mark Driscoll, is a breath of fresh air. He preaches practical sermons that just hit me right where I need it. They’re edgy and challenging. I would challenge any man to take an hour and a half out of their day and listen to this excellent sermon.

I might post a few more yet that I think are worth listening to.
